The product,
called EdgeBox, is aimed at SMEs and the branch offices of enterprises.

created the appliance in the belief that SMEs are unwilling, or do not have the
skills, to maintain their own network infrastructure.
EdgeBox has
a web interface so a centrally-based ICT professional - or reseller/ISP can
maintain the network.
It is based
on open source software, which could make it more secure than Microsoft-based
systems.
Fifty
applications are supported by the gateway, Critical said, including
firewall/VPN, anti-virus, quality of service for WAN links, storage and
conferencing.
EdgeBox will
be sold by IP telephony resellers and distributed by VCOMM.
Prices range
from £1495 for a 20 user appliance up to £3915 for the 200 user version.
