Networking Software Engineer

We are looking for a reliable Core Software Engineer to complement our existing development team in Coimbra. The ideal candidate will have at least two years experience in a similar role, pro-active and an ambitious attitude. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast growing company.   

Responsabilities:

• Design and implementation of network enhancements to a Linux based appliance server.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Perl / Unix C/C++ and shell programming.
• Unix/Linux kernel internals.
• Strong system/network administration background.
• Strong technical understanding of:
• HTTP, SSL, SMB, SMTP, DNS, IPSEC/CA, SQUID, Router /iptables based Firewall.
• Knowledge and experience on following concepts is a plus: Intrusion detection / prevention, QoS / Linux Traffic Control, 802.1q VLAN, VoIP / Asterisk.
• Fluent in English
• Good team work competences

Competences:

Skills:

• Working experience in design and development of web-based UI for networking products.
• Background in Network administration.
• Proficiency in networking concepts – HTTP, SMB, SMTP, DNS, VPN, etc.
• Working knowledge and experience with HTML, Perl/PHP, Apache, Databases, XML
• Java Swing / Applets
• Catalyst MVC framework, Dojo Javascript Toolkit
• Fluent in English

Responsibilities:

Design and validate edgeBOX's user interface, as well as general usability testing. Will work with end users and developers to determine product requirements and design details using user oriented design methodologies. Will also design and implement automated tests against web based graphical user interfaces.

Qualifications and Experience:

Engineering academic degree and relevant professional experience.

Required skills are:

• Good knowledge of general networking concepts
• Good understanding of current usability tendencies
• Strong interface design skills
• Strong understanding of prototyping with HTML and CSS
• Good communication skills, both Portuguese and English
• Good writing skills and meticulous attention to detail would be a plus
• Knowledge of task analysis, task flows, and design documentation

Technical Support Engineer

Responsibilites:

Technical Support for edgeBOX and associated software. Also support for office infrastructure. There will be a requirement for 24hr emergency callout on a rota basis. It is anticipated that there will be a need for occasional foreign travel.

Qualifications & Experience:

Engineering academic degree and relevant professional experience.

Required Skills are:

• Strong technical understanding of Unix commands and Networks
• Good understanding of the following: Apache, VoIP, SMTP, DNS, VPN, Security.
• Good Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Must have very good oral communication skills (English and Portuguese)
• Strong ability to write technical documentation in English or Portuguese
