Where can I buy edgeBOX appliances?
We work through multiple sales channels and have a worldwide distribution network. Please contact us to find a supplier near you.

Can I OEM the edgeBOX technology?
We have an OEM program that allows network equipment manufactures to access our EOS (edgeBOX Operating System) and provides comprehensive customisation services to port EOS to alternative hardware platforms.

How many users/lines can edgeBOX support?
That depends on the appliance that is chosen. There are three models available: the Office Gateway which comes with 10 users as default and can scale up to 40 users, the Business Gateway which comes with 25 users and can scale up to 100 users and the Enterprise Gateway which comes with 100 users and can scale up to 300 users. Additional users are added by purchasing User Packs.Models are available with a number of different interface options for connecting to analogue and digital phone lines. See the Product section of the website for more details.

What modules are available with edgeBOX?
edgeBOX comes with all services available, and the only exception to this is if you want to buy very specific software packages for e-learning, content and sites management or advanced collaboration tools, as there are no additional modules to purchase to activate particular functions. However, to use services such as the VoIP gateway or Wi-Fi access point the necessary hardware options must be present.

What phones does edgeBOX support?
edgeBOX works with any SIP-compliant phone. We have tested it with units from Polycom, Aastra, Linksys and Grandstream. It also works with analog phones. These may connect directly to edgeBOX (if FXS ports are available) or through an ATA.

Can I connect it to my existing PBX?
Yes, edgeBOX is the ideal solution if you are wanting to gradually migrate from a traditional phone system to an IP based system. You simply connect edgeBOX to your current PBX via a PRI, BRI or analog trunk and you will be able to transfer and route calls between the two systems.

Is there a high availability option?
Yes, there are several options for high availability. Our Business model includes RAID disks which ensure the device will stay up even if a disk fails. Our Enterprise model also has RAID and it is hot-swappable which means you do not need to power-down the box to replace a failed disk. The Enterprise model also has a redundant PSU (Power Supply Unit) in case the primary one fails. Finally you can connect a 2nd edgeBOX unit in parallel to the first and configure it to synchronise with the primary unit. If the primary unit fails, all you need to do is unplug it, replace it with the secondary unit and the whole system will be up and running again.

What does reporting provide?
edgeBOX provides a whole range of reports on the system, services and users including network statistics, service usage by users, call detail records, web access details, and hardware performance measurements. These can be displayed in tabular or graphical format and exported for printing or analysis in a spreadsheet.

Can I replace components in the box?
Only authorised resellers can replace components in an edgeBOX without invalidating the warranty. Note that this only applies to the rack mountable units and certain components, e.g. VoIP gateway cards. Other form factors do not have replaceable parts.

Can I have Wi-Fi in the Business and Enterprise units?
The Wi-Fi module is meant to be used only on Office units. Business and Enterprise unit form factors are designed to be mounted in a rack with little space for an antenna. Also racks are usually located in a closed room, not near to where the Wi-Fi network is usually needed.

Can I use edgeBOX with a dynamic public IP address?
Yes, edgeBOX can run with a dynamic public IP address. If the unit needs to be accessible from the Internet, edgeBOX supports Dynamic DNS service.

How secure is something that can be remotely managed?
By default, all edgeBOX ports are closed to the Internet except port 8011 for device management. Access to port 8011 is securely made using HTTPS.

How secure are the calls I make over the internet?
Securing SIP call signalling with TLS is on our roadmap and it will be made available to Office, Business and Enterprise product customers with support contracts as soon as it is released.

Does it do voice recording?
This can be done through handsets that support this feature.

How is performance affected if I run all the services at the same time?
EdgeBOX has been designed from the ground up to support multiple services running in parallel and each model has been specified to cope with the rated loads. Each service is prioritised to ensure that those which are latency sensitive are given priority over those which are not. EdgeBOX has built-in QoS which ensures network traffic is managed to avoid congestion which can have a particularly adverse effect on voice traffic. This is one of the advantages of having one device managing all your voice and network data on a converged network.

Can I access the command line?
All configuration can be done through the easy-to-use edgeBOX management interface which is web-based and can be accessed through any Java enabled browser. It is possible to connect directly to the console to manage edgeBOX using a command line interface (CLI) but this is only done in rare cases by qualified edgeBOX support personnel.

How is user licensing enforced?
User licensing is based on the number of users that can be configured on a box. So, for example, if the box is rated to support 20 users, you will not be able to add the 21st user through the management interface. If you configure phones without associating them with users, there is also the limit of being able to configure only 20 phones in this example. Additional user packs can be purchased to increase the number of users or phones an edgeBOX can support.

Can I buy an additional plug-in card if my requirements change?
You authorised reseller will be able to change plug-in cards as long as the final configuration matches one of the currently available SKUs. This is to ensure no untested configurations are created.

What is the warranty on the box?
Every unit comes with a one year hardware warranty and 90 day software warranty as standard. Warranty extensions and advance replacement warranties can be purchased separately.
